The federal budget was big on spending but “short on imagination,” according to Sky News host Nicholas Reece.
“The Liberal Party might keep winning elections in this country, but the Labor Party has won the budget policy debate,” he said.
On Tuesday Treasurer Josh Frydenberg announced a budget deficit of $161 billion and that government debt would reach $1 trillion.
Mr Reece said this is Australia’s biggest deficit and biggest debt “of all time”.
“Meanwhile, Anthony Albanese delivered a very sold budget reply that included some positive new measures and genuine reform.”
