Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has made it clear he will be expecting a cash boost from the Morrison government if Australia’s international borders fail to open in October as planned.
The airline has been given financial support to tide them over until the end of October .
Speaking to the press today Mr Joyce said “that’s the number one thing I’m worried about when it comes to international is our people”.
“We still have thousands of people that have been stood down, that are waiting for those international aircrafts to fly internationally.
“There is a support package there for them until the end of October which is great and hopefully if the borders don’t open up at the end of October that package will continue. That will be our expectation.”
