Zombies invade M'boro Hospital for Easter filming

MARYBOROUGH Hospital got a preview of the zombie apocalypse during the Easter weekend.

Fraser Coast filmmaker Nick Aiton used the hospital to set the scene for his zombie short film and trailer.

About 20 volunteers were involved in the shoot at the hospital including a new actress who had recently come onboard.

Mr Aiton said she was originally from Maryborough and he described her as an "up and coming actress down Brisbane way".

He said the short film, to be entered in a worldwide contest, and trailer would be used to raise funds via online crowd sourcing for a planned feature film on zombies.

Mr Aiton said he hoped to have the short film ready by mid-May and the trailer ready around the same time or a little bit later.

He and the cast and crew thanked the Wide Bay Hospital Health Service for accommodating filming on the hospital grounds.

"The scene we are shooting requires an internal staircase and we had a very short list of potential film sites that could be used in the Maryborough area," he said.
