Your say: Does Gladstone need plus size clothes stores

PLUS size clothing businesses need to come out of the closet and tell their target market that they're here.

That's the message from GCCI member Lyndal Hansen.

She echoed comments that were made on The Observer's Facebook page, that there is a need for more plus size clothing stores in Gladstone.

"The average size of Australian women is a size 14, and usually that's the upper size that a store have.

"There might be one or two 16s and very rarely there's an 18."

At last year's Style Me Up event, Ms Hansen said many home based plus sized clothing businesses that she had never heard of attended.

"If you are going to have a home based business that relies on social media for marketing, you need to make yourself known to your audience.

"At the moment I'm not aware of anyone selling this type of clothing, and either are my friends," she said.

On The Observer's Facebook page we asked what stores you would like to see come to Gladstone.
