YOUR PHOTOS: Gladstone weddings old and new
THE Observer's Facebook friends have shared photos of their weddings, old and new, showing off a range of wedding venues and styles.
Some of the couples are celebrating big wedding anniversary milestones this year, while for others their wedding rings are still bright and shiny.
Desley O'Grady shared a photo of her marriage to Craig 25 years ago, at a traditional ceremony in Bundaberg.
What was not so traditional was where her engagement ring came from.
Desley sill wears her engagement and wedding ring every day, but if it wasn't for the fish her parents caught in 1770, it could have been a very different ring.
"My mum and dad lived at Seventeen Seventy where Dad had a charter fishing boat," Desley said.
"A man came to their door one day and wanted to buy some fish, to which my mum said, 'We don't sell fish'.
"He said, 'Why don't I trade you a sapphire for a fish?', and so that sapphire they traded is now my engagement ring."
The couple, who met in the Sunshine Coast, now have two children, Regan and Joel.
For their milestone 25th anniversary, Desley and Craig travelled 4000km in two weeks, exploring Carnarvon Gorge, Mackay, the Gold Coast and Lismore.
She said she can still remember her wedding day like it was yesterday.
"It was an absolutely gorgeous day, it was perfect," she said.
"There was 140 guests. I have a big family!"
We've put together a photo gallery with a selection of some of the photos.
