Your chance for an ace day at tennis

YOU never know where the next Samantha Stosur or Nick Kyrgios might pop up, and local tennis coach Rob McBean is hoping he might stumble upon them in Gladstone.

Even if he doesn't, McBean will just be happy to spread the message of how good the sport of tennis is.

A couple of weeks away from the start of the next fixtures competition, Gladstone Tennis is hosting a fun day, simply to let people experience the sport.

"One of the things is the fun," he said.

McBean hopes the courts in Gladstone are full of players on Saturday, whether they sign up to play competitively or come for the occasional hit.

Starting at 2pm, interested participants will be treated to their choice of tennis or squash.

Able to win prizes, let the kids have a go at Hotshots or watch some exhibition matches, the day has a little bit of something for everyone.

While he is always happy to welcome anyone, McBean is making the big push to get adults involved.

"It fits in nicely with the Australian Open but the fixtures kick off not next Tuesday but the one after," he said.

"There is lots on court Saturday, some come down."

Tennis Fun Day:

  • Saturday, 2pm
