Young man suffers serious spinal injuries in ute crash

A YOUNG man suffered serious spinal injuries when the ute he was driving crashed and rolled south-west of Dalby and on the western Darling Downs.

He was driving a ute along Banana Bridge Road when he crashed and rolled near Kogan, west of Dalby at about 1.50pm.

He sustained a suspected spinal injury, requiring a higher level of medical care in Brisbane.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked from Toowoomba's Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre around 2pm, landing in a clearing by the roadside at 3pm.

A young man was airlifted by RACQ CareFlight from the scene of a serious traffic crash near Dalby on the Darling Downs.

CareFlight's crew, including a Critical Care Doctor and QAS Intensive Care Flight Paramedic, worked with other emergency responders at the scene to assess and treat the patient's injuries.

He was then carefully loaded onto the rescue helicopter and airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The young man travelled in a stable condition.
