Young BITS golfers get pro lessons
IF you play golf long enough, you’re well aware of how you can never have too many lessons.
Well, BITS junior golfers intend to stay ahead of the curve and recently received a stack of handy tips they can use to make sure their game is on the up-and-up.
Touring pros Tim Porter and Josh Marris kindly ran a free clinic for BITS Juniors on a Tuesday afternoon recently.
The young up-and-comers were handed some lessons on chipping, one of the most important aspects for players to get a grip of if they want to see low scores eventuate.
Porter and Marris have been finishing in or around the top five positions on tour and what they had to show the kids was easily accessible.
BITS Junior Golf president Dean Davis said having golfers the calibre of the duo show the kids how it’s done on tour was very beneficial for the development of the BITS juniors.
"This is an excellent arrangement we have with the touring Professionals that come to town for the Pro Am and we think it is great they take some time out to spend with our juniors players," Davis said.
"They enjoy giving the kids lessons and the kids gain some valuable skills from experienced players."
Porter hails from the Victoria Park Complex in Brisbane and Marris finished his traineeship at Royal Queensland last year.
