Young artists are set to shine

THE Golding Showcase Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition is calling on young artists to share their talents with the community in this year’s event at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum from August 16.

Young people aged between 15 and 18 are encouraged to submit works to the Gallery/Museum by today for the chance to have their artwork displayed in Gladstone’s professionally run public art gallery.

Gladstone Regional Council Community Services portfolio spokeswoman Cr Maxine Brushe is looking forward to viewing the artwork created by the region’s emerging young artists.

“Visitors and locals are promised a broad range of thought-provoking works in all media,” Cr Brushe said.

“Exhibited works have the chance to be voted by the community as the ‘face’ of next year’s Showcase.”

Exhibition sponsor Cyril Golding will present certificates to exhibiting artists at the official opening on Monday, August 16, at 6pm.

The Showcase will be staged with the support of St Stephen’s Lutheran College.
