Yaralla cruises to solid victory against Brothers

SECURING 176 runs from 40 overs set Yaralla up for a tremendous win against Brothers on Saturday.

Waqar Younis said it was a great way to start the year in their first match back for 2015.

Younis made 30 runs, but it was his bowling that made a difference to the game.

In just seven overs he took five wickets.

But he said he wasn't always feeling confident.

"When Terry (Sawyer) was in we thought he might take the game away from us, because he was a really good batsman, so we were lucky to get him out," he said.

"It was a good start to the season after Christmas," Younis said.

Brothers made 99 runs; their top scorer was Paul Condon with 22 runs.

Terry Sawyer said the pitch wasn't in the best condition.

But the team tested Yaralla with Andrew Cirson bowling well to the conditions, and claiming 3-25.

"Our batting started off a bit slow and the pitch just got worse," Sawyer said.
