Wounded Broncos reckon they'll play
THE Broncos are sweating on the fitness of four players as they prepare for Thursday night's blockbuster against the Storm at AAMI Park.
Maroons duo Matt Gillett and Josh McGuire, Kiwi Test utility Jordan Kahu and interchange young gun Tevita Pangai Jnr will be put through their paces during the captain's run on Wednesday at Red Hill.
All four are confident of being cleared to play, with Gillett (concussion) and McGuire (leg tightness) doing light duties on Monday as a precautionary measure.
Kahu was scheduled to test out his corked hip on Wednesday morning, while Pangai would appear the biggest concern after injuring his ankle in last week's epic against the Cowboys.
Brisbane's extended 21-man squad includes Benji Marshall, winger David Mead, rookie prop George Fai and flying flanker Jonus Pearson.
While several Broncos are racing the injury clock, there are no concerns over Storm rival Billy Slater (shoulder), who returns to the NRL after a year on the sidelines.
The Storm is also hopeful Kiwi Test prop Jesse Bromwich will get through today's captain's run in Melbourne, after suffering a compound fracture of his hand in round one.
