Working to bring bushfire at Bajool under control

SIX Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are on scene at a bushfire on Upper Ulam Road, Bajool (Rockhampton).

Crews were called to the fire around 10am today.

Firefighters are working to protect structures in the area and are backburning to bring the fire under control.

There is currently no threat to homes but the fire is causing a significant smoke haze.

Motorists in the area are advised to drive to conditions and be aware of firefighters working in the area.

Residents are advised to close their windows and doors and if they are susceptible to respiratory illnesses, keep their medication close by.
