Workers ‘walk off’ GLNG’s Curtis Island site
A large group of workers walked off the job at GLNG's Curtis Island site yesterday.
Details of the strike could not be confirmed, but one source said hundreds of workers walked off after a meeting.
A dispute over ferry times and travel arrangements has been ongoing between unions and construction company Bechtel.
The anonymous source said workers attended a meeting at 7.30am, before boarding a ferry at 10.30am and leaving the island.
Bechtel Gladstone general manager Kevin Berg said: "The site leadership has met with employees and we are working to establish the best possible solution. We will continue to monitor our travel program in order to minimize impacts as much as possible."
