Workers stuck on Curtis Island after harbour is closed

TWO mainland based employees were stuck on Curtis Island overnight on Thursday after they were unable to return home before the Gladstone Harbour was closed at 8pm.

Bechtel general manager Kevin Berg said a number of island-based workers were also unable to return to their homes, but all had been provided with alternative accommodation.

But work on the Island was not completely disrupted, with employees living on the island able to continue as normal.

The Gladstone Harbour remained closed to all shipping traffic on Friday as the Gladstone Harbour Master monitored the tide and weather conditions.

Mr Berg said all employees would be updated as the conditions changed.
