Work begins at Toolooa boat launching facility

A TOOLOOA boat launching facility will soon be shipshape.

Works to upgrade the boat launching facility at Toolooa, south of Gladstone, began on Monday.

Rebuilding and widening of the two-lane boat ramp will allow a floating walkway on the downstream side of the ramp to be erected.

The ramp will be closed during the works. It is expected to re-open early in October.

Transport and Main Roads regional director Dave Grosse said alternative facilities were available on Boyne Island at Tarcoola Dr and at David Bray Park.

"Boat ramp users are advised that the Toolooa ramp will be closed to all users from August 18 while repair works are underway," Mr Grosse said.

"The contractor needs to restrict access to the facility so crews can carry out the works safely and efficiently.

"Weather permitting, we expect the ramp to reopen for use early October."
