Women step up in fashion stakes at Magic Millions

THE scorching heat didn't scare away the region's dedicated punters from the Magic Millions race meeting at Ferguson Park on Saturday.

While Gladstone could not offer the same prize money as at the $2million Magic Millions 2YO classic at the Gold Coast, owners and trainers from surrounding regions provided strong fields for the crowd.

Punters had a ball, although the crowd was down in numbers from previous race meets.

Gladstone's women stepped up to the plate as usual in the fashion stakes, donning their most fabulous fascinators, with many women dealing with the weather by wearing lighter fabrics and skin-baring ensembles.

The men also joined the fashion stakes, with many taking a more casual approach to the day.

The next race meeting is February 16, which is the Valentine's Race Day where there will be fashions on the field prizes for best dressed.

Make sure you vote in The Observer's online poll for who you think was the best dressed on Saturday.
