Women fined for cat fight

IT WAS a good old-fashioned cat fight. With a back story from a soap opera.

An ongoing feud between Kelly Gail Miller and Shannen Michelle Robinson came to a head on June 26.

The pair crossed paths in Kmart and began yelling and swearing at each other.

Police prosecutor Nina Sulzor said a large crowd gathered to take in the spectacle.

When the fight moved outside, Robinson spat at Miller's car.

Duty lawyer Brad Krebs represented both women.

He said the history between the pair was complicated.

Miller apparently used to date Robinson's current partner.

Magistrate Russell Warfield was unimpressed with both defendants' behaviour.

"It's not the way to carry on," he told Miller.

"People don't need to put up with that rubbish," he advised Robinson.

Both pled guilty to public nuisance in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Miller was fined $350, Robinson $400.
