UPDATE 1PM: Police are searching the outskirts of Rosewood township for a knife following the stabbing death of a woman this morning.
Ipswich CIB Detective Inspector Lew Strohfeldt says police crews, including sniffer dogs, are scouring thick grassland off Karrabin-Rosewood Rd in search of a possible murder weapon.
A woman, believed to be aged 46, was found with several stab wounds after police were called to a house on John St about 7am.
A man aged 47 is voluntarily assisting police with their inquiries into the death.
Insp Strohfeldt said an emergency call was received prior to 7am, requesting an ambulance at the address.
QAS then nofified police.
It was not clear who made the call, but police said the woman was alone at the time when her body was found.
"On arrival police found the deceased female in the house. She had a number of stab wounds," Insp Strohfeldt said.
Police said the woman's body was in a bedroom.
Police cordoned off the house and called in scenes of crime officers, with detectives and uniform police doorknocking the area.
Police believe that the woman's killer may have fled the house in a vehicle, throwing the weapon out the window in the vicinity of Karrabin-Rosewood Rd, about 1km north-east of the main township.
The man being questioned by police was later picked up in the Ipswich area, before voluntarily assisting police.
