Woman’s bad mouth when drunk costs her $500

A WOMAN told by a Gladstone magistrate that she had a bad mouth when she drank too much alcohol has been fined $500 for obstructing police and being a public nuisance.

Magistrate Mark Morrow said he would usually issue a fine of $1000, but took into account that Rhama Harrison was doing it tough financially and receiving Centrelink benefits of $400 a fortnight.

Harrison told him she could afford to pay off the fine slowly.

"I'll try and cut back (on alcohol)", she said.

"Might be a good idea," Mr Morrow replied.

"The problem is you've got a bit of a mouth on you, doesn't help when you drink.

"If you don't address that something other than fines will happen to you."
