A WOMAN was transported to hospital this morning after sustaining head injuries in a truck roll-over near Miles, north-west of Toowoomba.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the 43-year-old woman was this morning awaiting a CareFlight rescue helicopter to airlift her to another hospital for further treatment.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on the Warrego Hwy about 15km east of Miles about 4.30am.

The truck was carrying 231 goats.

Western Downs Regional Council workers are at the scene of the crash herding up the animals.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said hydraulic equipment was used to free the driver from the wreckage.

One lane of the highway was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene but crews had cleared the scene by 6am.
