Woman forced to drive before being grabbed by the throat

A man has been charged following an incident at Salisbury last night.

It will be alleged around 7.30pm a man went to a house at Winsome Road and confronted a woman known to him demanding she drive him to another address.

It will be alleged the woman stopped the vehicle a number of times demanding the man get out but he refused. It will also be alleged at one point he grabbed the woman by the throat.

The vehicle stopped in Tuckett Road where it will be alleged the man then jumped onto the bonnet of the woman's car and kicked the windscreen causing damage.

The man then allegedly ran off after police arrived in the street in response to reports of a disturbance. A man was taken into custody nearby.

The woman did not require any treatment for injuries.

A 19-year-old Salisbury man has been charged with deprivation of liberty - domestic violence offence, assault occasioning bodily harm - domestic violence offence and wilful damage - domestic violence offence.

He is expected to appear at the Holland Park Magistrates Court today, April 4.
