Woman crashed into home while trying to evade RBT: police

A SUNSHINE Coast woman who allegedly crashed her car into a Bongaree family home while trying to avoid a random breath test  is facing a string of charges including driving adversely affected by a drug.

Police will allege an ill-conceived attempt to avoid the test at Bongaree on Saturday night left a family having to move out of their home and a woman charged with dangerous driving.

It will be alleged police were performing random breath testing at a static site on Benabrow Avenue around 9.40pm when a vehicle which had entered the site suddenly sped away.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle in Coolgarra Avenue when the driver allegedly failed to stop.

The driver lost control when turning into adjoining Harmony Avenue and crashed into a house located at the intersection of Harmony and Coolgarra avenues.

The car travelled through the front yard before crashing into the garage wall and door.

The occupants of the home- a man, woman and teenager were uninjured.

The house was deemed to be unsafe due to the damage and loss of electricity supply with the family spending the night with relatives.

Police arrested the female driver at the scene. She was taken to Caboolture Hospital as a precaution.

Two passengers in the car, a 14-year-old boy from Peachester and a 30-year-old from Aroona, were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 21-year-old Maroochydore woman has been issued with a Notice to Appear in relation to dangerous driving while adversely affected by a drug, unlicensed driving, fail to stop, evade police and obstruct police.

She is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on March 7.

The vehicle was seized for possible forfeiture and police investigations are continuing.
