Man and woman assisting police over Bruce Hwy shooting

2.10pm: A man and a woman are currently assisting police with their inquiries into an alleged shooting on the Bruce Hwy at 3.30am.

Police continue to investigate reports of a vehicle being chased and fired upon by the occupants of another vehicle heading north on the Bruce Highway between Gladstone and Rockhampton.

Early investigations located a vehicle matching the description, in a car park on the Fitzroy River, however, this has been ruled out of the investigation as a vehicle of interest.

A further vehicle, which police believe contained the female caller, has now been located in the Mt Archer area.

No one was injured during the alleged incident.

This vehicle has been declared a crime scene and investigations are continuing. 

9.15am: A WOMAN called police last night saying someone fired shots at her car while she was driving along the Bruce Highway.

Police are seeking information from anyone who may have seen a white Holden Cruze in the Rockhampton region at about 3.30am this morning after reports shots were fired at the vehicle.

Police received a call at 3.30am this morning from a female person who stated that she was heading north on the Bruce Highway between Gladstone and Rockhampton and she was being chased and fired upon by another vehicle.

Triple 0 operators continued to speak with the female caller who advised that she was now in Rockhampton and would head to the police station.

The operator stayed on the line with the caller until she advised that she was at the Rockhampton Police Station.

Police from within the station searched the immediate area however could find no sign of the female caller or the vehicle she stated she was driving.

A broader search located a vehicle matching the description in a car park on the Fitzroy River.

The vehicle was locked and secured and there were no signs of damage. The vehicle has been seized for further examination.

The female caller has now been located and investigations are continuing.
