Woman assaulted by man dressed like traffic controller

POLICE are calling for witnesses after a motorist was flagged down by a man in a hi-vis vest before being assaulted near Miriam Vale.

Initial reports suggest on Wednesday June 24 at around 6:45pm the 20-year-old woman was travelling towards Miriam Vale on Fingerboard Road.

As she was approaching the electronic sign she saw a man in an orange hi-vis vest who appeared to be conducting traffic control.

The man indicated for her to stop, when she complied another person punched her through her open window and tried to pull her out of the car.

The woman accelerated away and drove into Miriam Vale for assistance.

The first man is described as Caucasian, of average height, stocky build, wearing an orange hi-vis vest. The woman did not see the person who assaulted her.

Police are seeking anyone who travelled the area who may have witnessed the man or has had someone attempt to stop them in similar circumstances in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
