Modules mark major milestone for WICET offshore works

OFFSHORE marine works for the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal wharf have reached a major milestone with the final three-deck units received and installed.

The last and largest module weighing 720 tonnes was installed last Wednesday.

The works also included removing the 220 tonne "dolphin traveller" frame, which was used to complete the piling of the berthing dolphins.

Project delivery general manager Malcolm McPhan said there had been significant progress made on both the wharf and jetty structures.

"In addition to all nine of the wharf decking units now in place, the wharf and dolphin piling is finished and jetty construction is more than 50% complete," he said.
