THOUSANDS of Gladstone residents relied on candles and torches last night after a power outage lasted for almost four hours.

Almost 3500 residents lost power at 8.37pm after a cross-arm on a pole supporting two feeder lines on Red Rover Rd burnt.

The incident affected residents in Clinton, Beecher, Kirkwood and New Auckland.

It took Ergon Energy crews until 12.20am to restore power for residents, apart from three customers who had a further four hours without power.

Power was fully restored at 4.48am after Ergon Energy crews had replaced the damaged cross-arm.
