Who’s mum’s golden child? Cara has a trio of them
CARA Hodgson has six children, but only three are human.
Mrs Hodgson's three golden retrievers Evie, six months, Hugo, 10, and Sophie, 4, are just as part of the family as her three daughters.
While some would think they are a handful, the Hodgson family wouldn't have it any other way.
"Evie is beautiful, calm and loving," she said.
"Hugo is my old boy. We got him at Christmas 10 years ago. "He was my baby when I didn't have children.
"Sophie is crazy and keeps us on our toes. She's a bundle of fun."
Mrs Hodgson, a volunteer dog trainer, undertakes obedience training with all three dogs. She has been doing it for three years.
She travels around Queensland competing in trials in order to gain titles. Hugo is classed as a Rally Excellence.
"He's a companion dog. He has done really well over the past 18 months," Mrs Hodgson said.
Obedience training involves doing different paces with the owner and different exercises.
"I have taken them to the next level of obedience," Mrs Hodgson laughed.
"I believe everyone needs to train their dogs."
Hugo will retire in 2015 but Evie will be Mrs Hodgson's next little star.
Why three golden retrievers, you ask?
"Golden retrievers are great family pets. They are calm and loyal," she said.
"They don't have to be entertained."
