Where boys fall, Pepe will follow at popular waterhole

LOCALS like to keep it something of a secret but it seems every man and his dog was at Gardner's Falls near Maleny on the weekend.

And there was no doubt the star attraction was a Coolum father and his young boys who were being closely guarded by the family dog.

Jackson Beale carefully put his six-year-old sons Taj and Cisco on to to the smallest swinging rope and gave them instructions on how to land before launching them into the air.

Pepe the dog was on the sidelines and immediately swam to where the boys landed.

When the dad and boys explored other parts of the falls, including jumping off near the waterfall, Pepe soon followed.

The boys, who will turn seven in a couple of weeks, could not get enough of their adventure with dad.

Pepe, however, looked a little stressed as she struggled to keep up with the trio.

"She keeps them safe,'' Jackson said afterwards.

"She makes sure they don't go under."

This was the Coolum family's first visit to the falls, but it's unlikely to be their last.
