Kids Big Night Out

YARALLA Sports Club invites all children aged 2-12 to Kids Big Night Out, held on the second Friday of each month.

Parents can enjoy some time in the club while the kids have dinner and a fun night of movies, games and activities.

This kids-only event is fully supervised and tickets include dinner and drinks.

Movie session for parents and kids

MUMS, dads and bubs are invited to come along to the Gladstone cinemas to attend a child-friendly event at 9.30am.

Ticket are $8 or $20 for Gold room.

Roy Orbison tribute night

THE Roy Orbison and his Travelling Celebrities Tour will land in Gladstone on Saturday night.

Head to Gladstone Yacht Club for a dinner and evening of entertainment as comedian David impersonates Orbison and many other celebrities.

Tickets cost $69 which includes the show and a three-course meal. The event starts at 6pm.

Brandon Matthews fundraiser

IN memory of Brandon Matthews, an event will be held to raise funds for the Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group, which offers support and advocacy to survivors of homicide.

Brandon, who grew up in Tannum Sands, was murdered in 2012, aged 18. He would have turned 21 on September 9.

The fundraiser at Gladstone PCYC is an 18+ event with auctions, raffles, bar, and live entertainment.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from the Gladstone PCYC or by contacting the event organiser.

Dress code is smart casual, or feel free to wear your favourite fishing clothing and/or your favourite tie - loosely, just as Brandon would do.

Race day at Thangool

A FIRST class country race day will be held at the Thangool Race Club, 12km from Biloela.

Get frocked up for a memorable day of local racing, fun and fashion. TAB, bookies, Sky Channel, bar and canteen will be available on the day.

A free bus service will depart on race days from the Biloela Visitor Information Centre at noon and 12.30pm.

The race club is on the corner of Thangool Lookerbie Rd and Aerodrome Lane.

Library Square Markets

HELD in the heart of Gladstone's Central Business District at Library Square, Gladstone residents and visitors can purchase fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts and much more at the Library Square Markets on Saturday.

When you're done at the markets, there are a number of restaurants and cafes in the CBD that will tempt your tastebuds.

The markets run on Goondoon St from 7am until noon.

20th annual Golding Showcase

GLADSTONE Regional Art Gallery and Museum is hosting the Golding Showcase, a Port Curtis Callide Valley youth art exhibition.

Works in all media by local high school students aged 15-18 will be on display until September 13.

The gallery at the corner of Goondoon and Bramston Sts is open from 10am to 5pm.

Spend a morning with acoustic tunes

JHAM Bar Gladstone will host Acoustic JHAMS, a morning of music by local artists each Saturday from 9am-noon.

Sit and have a coffee and watch the world go by while enjoying music by Animal Throwdown, White Room and Rob (Country) Hopkins at JHAM Bar, 117 Toolooa St, Gladstone.

Get fit with Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia faciliate a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am - 8am at Lions Park.

GLADSTONE PCYC Markets have returned and are bigger and better than ever.

Head down between 8am-noon with the family to browse the various local stalls including craft, fresh produce, gardening, baby goods and more.

Chill out at Sunday session

LIGHTBOX Espresso and Wine Bar is the hottest place to be in Gladstone at the moment and Sunday is where you can try it out.

Take your friends along to the bar in Goondoon St, next to the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre, for a cocktail this weekend.

The Sunday sessions are a chilled way of wrapping up a weekend while listening to some live acoustic music.

You can order some tapas and sit at one of the booths from 2pm onwards for a relaxed afternoon. 

Gladstone eisteddfod vocal section

THE speech and drama programme of the 44th Gladstone City Eisteddfod has wrapped up and the vocal programme will begin on Sunday for what is expected to be an excellent week of singing talent.

The vocal program starts at 9am with solos, duos and choirs the main style of performance.

Discovery Coast Markets

THE Discovery Coast Markets are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the SES Grounds located between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

Come and browse the arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and fresh produce available to purchase between 8am and noon.

Sunday Coffee Cruise

TAKE a cruise around the Gladstone harbour and surrounding island every Sunday and Wednesday on a a Curtis Ferry Services Coffee Cruise.

Enjoy a two-hour cruise with morning tea and commentary on the Gladstone region, while keeping an eye out for turtles, dolphins and dugongs.

Cruises are held 11am-1pm. Bookings are essential and can be made through the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre.

Passengers must collect their ticket from the Information Centre at 72 Bryan Jordan Drive) before departure, and ensure they arrive at Curtis Ferry Services Terminal by 10.45am.

If the Information Centre is closed, tickets and payments can be made from the departure point.

The Sunday Coffee Cruise will run until September 28.

Tickets cost $24 adults, $22 concession and $16 children aged 7-16. Phone 4972 9000 for more details.

Sunday session at Yachties

GLADSTONE Yacht Club will have a Sunday session in Yachties Beer Garden with live music by Ross Badger from 2.30pm.

There will be great drink specials and a great atmosphere to wind-down your weekend.
