FRIDAY:

Roller derby disco

AN all-ages roller disco is on at the Gladstone PCYC, hosted by Gladstone Roller Derby. Come like you're dressed for battle - think fishnets, knee pads, booty shorts, face paint and a big attitude.

The event runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Entry is $10 which includes skate hire.

Gladstone writers meet

GLADSTONE writers meet on the first Thursday every month at the Gladstone City Library meeting room at 6pm. Due to a prior engagement, the March meeting will be held on Friday.

Gladstone Turf Club races

EXPERIENCE the thrill of a day at the races with bookies, TAB and bar facilities, fashion and style, catering and of course horse races at Ferguson Park in Gladstone.

The Gladstone Turf Club meet on Saturday will mark the first race meet for Autumn, and the place to be seen.

General admission tickets at the gate are $15.

Good Times on Q - INXS tribute show

THIS month's Good Times on Q features entertainment by an INXS tribute band on Quoin Island. Also on offer is entertainment by local artists Nathan Bedford and Alex Matheson-Brown, plus a gourmet barbecue dinner.

See if you can beat a chess master

WOMEN'S international chess master Heather Richards will be conducting a simultaneous chess exhibition at Stockland Gladstone on Saturday.

The chess champ will play against eight different people at once, and when one game finishes, another one will start.

The event will be held outside Lorna Jane from 10am-2pm.

Rotaract Club open day

THE Rotaract Club of Gladstone will hold a sign-on day from 11am at Gladstone Marina Parklands, Bryan Jordan Dr.

There will be a sign-on session, sausage sizzle, frisbee and a scavenger hunt, taking place in a great environment to make new friends and develop professional and leadership skills.

Rotaract is a club for adults aged 18-30 years old that meets to exchange ideas, plan activities and projects, and socialise.

While Rotary clubs serve as sponsors, Rotaract clubs decide how to organise and run their club and what projects and activities to carry out. Phone 0429 961 687 for more details.

Musical auditions

THE Chrysalides Musical Association is hosting adult auditions for roles in The Chrysalides, a romantic musical comedy set in a high school, at 1pm in the Clinton Guide Hut on Aerodrome Rd, Gladstone.

Bring along a sense of humour, a familiar piece of work and know to know show your vocal range.

Free family movie night

KIDS Outside the Box and the ASD Family Support Group are hosting a free family movie night on Saturday for families living with autism.

The animated film Escape from Plant Earth will be shown and there will be a sausage sizzle, raffles, sensory corner and an opportunity to find out about future events.

Library Square Markets

HELD in the heart of Gladstone's Central Business District at Library Square, Gladstone residents and visitors can purchase fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts and much more.

When you're done at the markets, there are a number of restaurants and cafes in the area to tempt your tastebuds.

The markets run from 7am to noon.

Get fit with Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia have launched a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am-8am at Lions Park.

Workshop on how to care for native birds

A BIRD husbandry and rehabilitation workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Dr Ann Fowler will present information about husbandry and diseases of injured and orphaned native birds.

Cedar Galleries farmers markets

FARMERS Markets are held every Sunday at Cedar Galleries. The markets provide locally grown fresh produce, various market stalls, rides and jumping castles for the kids.

Come along for breakfast or coffee and cake at the cafe, and don't forget to say hi to the popular alpacas.

The markets run from 8am to noon at 49544 Bruce Hwy, Benaraby.

Discovery Coast Markets

THE Discovery Coast Markets are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the SES Grounds on Captain Cook Dr between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

Come and browse the arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and fresh produce available for purchase.

The markets are open from 8am until noon.

Sunday session at Yachties

SOLOIST Michelle Plozza from Townsville will play at a Sunday session at Gladstone Yacht Club from 2pm to 6pm.

The session includes the music and great drink specials.

Bromeliad Friendship Group

THE Bromeliad Friendship Group will meet at the home of Diane and Richard Cornale at 22 Knights Pl, Calliope, from 9.30am.
