FRIDAY:

Night of music, drag and drama

LOOKING for something arty, unique and extravagant? Get yourselves to a night of song, drama and drag at the Gladstone State High School from 7.30pm on Friday.

The Up In Lights event is set to be an evening to remember as Sam Thompson takes to the stage with other special acts and the Conspire Isis Theatre Company.

Cost is $10.

Ice skating at GECC

ICE skating at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre marquee will continue until February 24 to celebrate the Winter Olympics.

The Winter Magic Ice Skating rink had originally been scheduled to close on Sunday, after giving Gladstone residents and visitors a cool place to be over summer.

Evening sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm to 9pm, with daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday at 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.

Maritime museum open day

AN open day at the Maritime Museum will be held on Saturday, February 1 from 10am-4pm.

Raffles, drinks and a sausage sizzle will all be on offer while you view local maritime history.

Follow the Maritime Museum signs along Port Access Rd.

Market day

THE first market day morning tea at St Saviour's Church Hall for the year will be held on February 1 from 9.30am. 

The morning tea is $5 and market stalls will be selling crafts, books, cakes and more.

Proceeds will go towards workshops to be held in Fiji in April this year.

Cent sale

GLADSTONE Bowls Club will hold a cent sale at its club house in Ferris St on Saturday, February 1.

Doors open at 11.30am for a 1pm start. Admission costs $1 for adults and children 50 cents applies, and afternoon tea will be supplied.

Prizes including a multi-draw raffle, children's prizes and a cake walk will keep the attendees entertained.

Get fit with Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia have launched a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am-8am at Lions Park.

Junior basketball carnival

KEV Broome Stadium will host upcoming basketball players this weekend for a junior representative carnival.

Teams will travel from Bundaberg and Rockhampton to compete at the event over Saturday and Sunday, with teams from under-12 through to under-18 in both boys and girls participating.

Family fun day on the court

COME and help the Gladstone Tennis and Squash Association serve in a new year of sport at the courts on Saturday.

The family fun day will run from 3pm.

There will be plenty of on court activities, including junior squash coaching demonstrations and MLC Hotshots tennis for this kids.

Barbecue and refreshments will be on sale from the canteen during the afternoon.

So grab your racquets out of the cupboard and come along to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at the Gladstone Tennis and Squash Centre.

Seagulls sign on

THE Tannum Sands/Boyne Island Seagulls junior rugby league football club will hold a sign on day on Saturday, February 1 from 10.30am-1.30pm at the Dennis Park fields on Pioneer Dr.

All new players must provide a copy of their birth certificate and a non-refundable deposit of $100 is required to be paid on the day.

Boyne Tannum Senior Football Club is holding their sign-on at 3pm on Sunday at the Tannum Pub, located at 34 Pacific Ave,
Tannum Sands.

Clinton Football Club Juniors are holding a sign-on on Saturday from 2pm until 4pm at the CPSA Club House on Aerodrome Rd, Clinton.

Chinese New Year celebrations

THE Gladstone Chinese community and Gladstone Multicultural Association invites residents to celebrate the Chinese New Year and year of the horse at the Gladstone Marina Parklands on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

There will be a sausage sizzle and games for all the family to participate in.

Organisers ask that people bring a plate of food to share to the event.

Nippers carnival

NIPPERS will pack Tannum Sands main beach on Sunday morning when Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club hosts a junior four-point carnival.

The event includes clubs from the northern part of the Wide Bay Capricorn Branch, with competitors expected from Yeppoon, Emu Park and Agnes Water.

T20 cricket final

YARALLA Cricket Club's A-grade side will take on the outfit from The Glen Cricket Club on Sunday in the Gladstone Cricket Association's T20 cricket final.

Head down to Yaralla from 1pm to watch some of the region's finest cricketers in action.

Sunday session at Yachties

GLADSTONE Yacht Club will host a Sunday session in the Yachties beer garden.

The session will feature live music from Dvanti from 2.30pm-6.30pm and drink specials.

MATTHEW Barker is bringing his multi-instrumental skills to Gladstone at Bojangles' Sunday session.
