FRIDAY:

Boardies Day

CHUCK on your boardies and slip, slop, slap this Friday for Agnes Water Surf Lifesaving Club's Boardies Day celebration.

Fun, games and activities for the whole family including dance-off, raffles and prizes for best boardies.

Entry is by gold coin and donations to the Surf Lifesaving Club are appreciated.

Retro roller disco

GLADSTONE PCYC Roller Disco League will host a Retro Roller Disco on March 28 from 6.30-9pm.

BYO Socks, and dress for funkytown!

Entry is $10, and the event is a fundraiser for Gladstone's grassroots and growing roller derby league.

Ladies shopping night

FASHION lovers will go back to school on Friday night when the 2014 Ladies Night Out shopping event hits the Star of the Sea Primary School.

Featuring 34 stalls from local and home-run businesses, everything from clothing, make-up, jewellery, kitchen and homewares, artwork and fitness will be on offer.

Dance festival

THE Gladstone Dance Festival will be held on the weekend of March 29-30 at the Tannum Sands SHS hall.

Open only to dancers aged between 3 and 18 from the Gladstone Regional Council area, there will be a number of dance styles performed on stage.

Cent sale

A CENT sale for the Gladstone Bowls Club on Saturday.

Doors open at 11.30am for a 1pm start.

An entry fee applies; $1 for adults and 50 cents for children.

A multi-draw raffle, children's prizes and a cake walk will be on offer and afternoon tea is supplied.

Movie night

MOUNTt Larcom Youth Centre is hosting a free community movie night on Saturday.

"The Croods" will be showing, and food and drinks will be on sale.

All money raised will be invested back into the Youth Centre.

Drought fundraiser

LOCALS have thrown their support behind a drought relief fundraiser on Saturday, with over $3000 being donated so far and more than half the tickets sold.

Boyne Valley and Boyne Island Lions clubs have organised a sausage sizzle and bar for the farm-themed dance night.

Madi Gras on Q

DESPITE the wet weather Gladstone's first Mardi Gras event is still going ahead this Saturday.

Mardi Gras on Q is now being held at Gladstone PCYC, on Yarroon St instead of at Quoin Island Retreat as orignially intented.

Due to the event now being in town, tickets prices have dropped - book here.

Tickets are on sale online until 4pm on Saturday, or available for purchase at the door.

Everything else is going ahead as planned, with bar and kitchen open all night and a full schedule of fabulous entertainment.

Doors are open from 5pm and the event starts at 6pm.

El Grande Festival

THE wildly successful El Grande Festival returns for a third go-round in central Queensland, this time at MIe Place Nightclub (formerly known as Bojangles) on Goondoon St, Gladstone.

Dead Letter Circus heads up a massive day of rock, roots and hip hop presented by HotFM CQ, Southern Cross Ten and The Observer.

The event starts at 1pm.

Tickets are $40 and are running out fast.

Cedar Galleries Farmers Markets

EVERY Sunday morning Cedar Galleries is a gathering place for families enjoying breakfast, shoppers with baskets gathering up a range of fresh produce and gourmet goodies, stallholders, kids jumping on the castle and alpacas happily handfeeding with visitors at the gate. 

You can even have your tarot or angel cards read.

The market stalls and café breakfast trade runs from 8am until midday every Sunday.

Bushwalkers anniversary

GLADSTONE District Bushwalkers invite past members to attend their 25th anniversary celebrations on March 29-30.
