FRIDAY

Food precinct opening

 STOCKLAND Gladstone is officially opening its new food precinct area today from 9am- noon.

The opening will include activities and giveaways such as face painting and special offers. More here.

National Youth Week

NATIONAL Youth Week is about recognising just how valuable young people are to the Gladstone community through activities including the arts, culture and music.

National Youth Week activities will be staged in the Gladstone Region from April 4 to 13, 2014.

On Friday from 7.30am until 9am is the invitation only Mayors Youth Breakfast event, which will open youth week.

This event will recognise our youths silent achievers and volunteers and includes the Saiki Sister City book launch.

SATURDAY

Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia faciliate a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am - 8am at Lions Park.

Kids On Tour Family Fun Day: Cai Guo-Qiang

CHILDREN are invited to participate in Kids on Tour - Cai Guo-Qiang, the exciting program of specially developed artist projects and activities on Saturday at 10.30am at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum.

Families can make and display fun objects, create spectacular multimedia gunpowder drawings and explosion events and watch a short animated film about the art and adventures of Cai Guo-Qiang.

Kids on Tour is a Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art regional program, coinciding with their current exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: Falling Back to Earth, and is proudly supported by the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.

The Children's Art Centre is sponsored by Santos. Thanks to Santos GLNG, one child that attends Kids on Tour will win their very own iPad. Three lucky runners up will take home their very own copy of the book,"Let's Create an Exhibition with a Boy Named Cai".

Hawaiian Fantasy Orchid and Foliage Expo

THE Boyne Tannum Orchid and Foliage Society are going troppo at this year's Hawaiian Fantasy expo.

The popular two day Orchid and Foliage Expo will be held at Tannum Sands High School and will feature guest speakers, demonstrations, plant sales, raffles and food and drink will be available for purchase.

Doors open Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday 9am to 1.30pm.

Entry is $3 and children under 16 admitted free.

RSPCA cent sale

THE Friends of RSPCA cent sale will be held on Saturday at the Gladstone Bowls Club, 5 Ferris St.

Up to 500 prizes are up for the taking, and multi-draw raffles, a cake walk and entertainment will be on offer.

Tickets are still available and will be on sale on the day.

Doors open at 11am and the event will kick off at 1pm. To reserve a table call Bill or Marianne O'Reilly on 0418 188 812.

Thangool Races

EXPERIENCE first class country racing at the Thangool Race Club, just 12 kilometres from Biloela.

TAB, Bookies, Sky Channel, bar and canteen will be available on the day.

A free bus service will depart on race days from the Biloela Visitor Information Centre between 1100 and 1300.

Moura Muddy Water Classic

THE annual Moura Muddy Water Classic family fishing competition will return to Moura from April 5 to 6.

A bar, barbecue, lucky draws and raffles will be held over the two day event and free camping is available.

Thousands in cash and prizes will be won over the weekend, so don't miss out.

Dave Hodge, best known as 'The Barefoot Fisherman' will attend the event on both Saturday and Sunday to share his experience, tips and tricks.

Beach Arts Music

BEACH Arts Music is a free community event held on the first Saturday of every month from 2pm to 7pm at Millennium Esplanade, Tannum Sands.

Featuring food stalls, live entertainment, arts and creation stalls and lots more making this event an awesome family friendly outing.

Don't forget to bring your own chairs and eskies.

Cedar Galleries Farmers Market

EVERY Sunday morning Cedar Galleries is a gathering place for families enjoying breakfast, shoppers with baskets gathering up a range of fresh produce and gourmet goodies, stallholders, kids jumping on the castle and alpacas happily handfeeding with visitors at the gate. 

You can even have your tarot or angel cards read.

The market stalls and café breakfast trade runs from 8am until midday every Sunday.

Cash for Kash Memorial Day

FAMILY, friends and local residents will gather on Sunday to remember a special little boy.

The Cash for Kash Memorial Day at Bray Park Boyne Island is for Kash Longmuir, the 15-month-old boy who died from leukemia last month.

There will be live music, stalls, a live auction and raffle draws to raise money for Childhood Cancer Support and the Longmuir Family.

Originally planned as a fundraiser for Kash's treatment, the event committee decided to turn the day into a celebration of the little boy who had brought the community closer together.

The day starts with a Cruise for Cash from the Gladstone Yacht Club to Bray Park, Boyne Island at 10am, with registrations for the cruise from 8am.

Art workshop

YOUTH aged 12 to 18 are welcome to visit the Gladstone Library on Sunday from 9am to 3pm to paint a canvas to brighten the youth space in Library.

Settlers Gladstone Community Open Day

SETTLERS Gladstone Retirement community invites the public to their open day on Sunday.

Take a stroll through our display units, learn more about the retirement lifestyle, enjoy exhibits from local businesses.
