Family welcomes sixth child, prepares to open restaurant
AIDA and Hassan Hamwi welcomed their sixth child at the Gladstone Hospital this week and they are feeling very lucky.
Diana was born at 12.52am on July 13 and Hassan said it was Aida's easiest birth yet.
"It seemed like she arrived in just minutes," the proud father of six said.
"We're feeling very lucky."
Already he can notice the resemblance between Diana and her mum Aida.
The proud family is looking forward to taking their new child home.
"She's a very cute baby. We have a pretty chaotic house at times. Mum's always busy cooking in the kitchen for them," he said.
They'll both be even busier when they open up a new restaurant in Gladstone next month.
"It's worked out perfect. We were waiting for the shop to be available and when Aida was pregnant the shop was being emptied for us," he said.
The Turkish shisha restaurant will be across from the Gladstone Yacht Club, near the roundabout to the marina.
And it will be named after their son, Daniel.
"It's going to be called Daniel's Shisha Restaurant. He's very excited to be able to help out," he said.
Little Diana is a younger sister to Adam, 10, Daniel, 7, Nibras, 17, Alla, 17 and Israak, 19.
"All my babies have been born in Egypt, so I think Diana's the lucky one to be born in Australia."
Hassan moved to Gladstone three years ago from Dubai and Aida made the move a year later with their children.
