Whale dies after being hit by boat in Moreton Bay

A WHALE with deep propeller cuts to its head has washed up dead, after being hit by a boat in Moreton Bay.

It was one of two whales hit by boats in the past few days, with one hit on Friday.

A Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service spokesman said the dead southern right whale that washed up was an eight-metre-long female.

"The dead whale has different marking to the one sighted after being hit by a ferry off Goat Island in the early hours of yesterday morning (Friday), and that whale has not been seen today," the spokesman said.
