GYMPIE newlyweds Peter and Lauren Tryhorn traded rolling lawns and natural scenery for the bright lights and excitement of the Gympie Show for their wedding photos at the weekend.

The couple married on Saturday afternoon at St Patrick's Church and hosted their reception at picturesque Gunabul Homestead.

Instead of racing out for photos after the ceremony to seize the day's light, the couple did quite the opposite.

As the sun set, the newly married couple headed to the Gympie Show where photographer, Tegan Jennings, weaved her magic with the lens. The result? Stunning wedding photos full of life, colour, energy and individuality.

Showgoers looked on with interest as the bridal party took to Sideshow Alley, becoming an attraction in their own right.

The material was in plentiful supply for the photographer, who captured beaming smiles from the loving couple among the charged atmosphere of the Gympie Show.

In the wedding party were Mark Tryhorn and Ashley Duin, Simon Tryhorn and Amanda Walker and Chris Neilson and Holly Kent.

Proud mother of the groom Colleen Tryhorn was still flushed with emotion yesterday reliving memories of the magical day.

"I just cried it was so beautiful," she said.

"It was a simple ceremony and very moving."

Peter, a boilermaker by trade, and childcare worker Lauren are soul mates who grew up together as friends before love blossomed in their teenage years.

Now both 22 and married, the wedding reception was a fitting tribute to their history together first as friends and then partners.

The idea to take wedding photos at the Gympie Show was born in the weeks of the planning before the big day.

Lauren was at Mary St jeweller Mia Bella paying for tickets to visit the show when she spoke excitedly of her forthcoming wedding.

It was from there the idea to photograph at the Gympie Show was conceived and an eager Gympie Show Society was receptive to the idea.

Mr and Mrs Tryhorn yesterday enjoyed the start of a honeymoon in Thailand.
