Watt lights up CQ championship

FIFTY-THREE players from throughout Central Queensland took part in the 2010 Women’s Championships which was held at the Calliope Golf Club over two days.

Many thanks to the members and staff of the Calliope Golf Club for this assistance with this event and many thanks to the lady golfers from throughout the region that supported this event.

CQ Champion Chris Watt (Calliope) 176 Gross. After carding an excellent 81 over the first 18 holes, Watt thought she had blown her chances with a 95 on the second day, but clinched the title by one shot from Calliope junior, Taylor McManus who had rounds of 87 and 90.

Best Nett in Div 1 was H Beale (Gstone) 144.

 

Best Gross in Div 2 was Helen Reeves (Gstone) 187.

R/up was Jenny Leyden (Rton) 189.

Best Nett in Div 2 was Ann-Maree Struik (Gstone) 137.

 

Best Gross in Div 3 was Val Watson (Calliope) 198.

R/up was Claudette Younger (Gstone) 208.

Best Nett in Div 3 was Judy Carswell (CCC) 151.

 

Watt also took out the CQ Veterans Title with her 81 Gross on the Monday. R/up in this event was Kate Bell (Mvale) with 92 on a C/b.

 

Best Nett in the 50-59 Age Div. was Sue Mestroni (Gstone) 71.

R/up was M Fletcher (Calliope) 72.

Best Nett in the 60-65 Age Div. was Kath Pill (Rton) 71 on a C/b from Georgia Power (Calliope) .

Best Nett in the 66 and over Age Div. was Jo Oxer (Calliope) 69 nett.

R/up was Val Watson 73 nett.

Womens Golf CQ are now preparing to travel to Indooroopilly in September for the Meg Nunn Salver.

The 2010 WGCQ Meg Nunn Salver team is: Julie-ann Carson & Brooke O’Keeffe of Springsure, Cheryl Fisher & Julie Burton of Boyne Island/Tannum Sands, Brenda Phillips of Calliope & Sandi Nock of Emerald. Team captain Carmel O’Keeffe and Team manager Donna Reynolds.

The Ladies Sand Green Championships was held at the Mt Morgan Golf Club on Friday along with the Mt Morgan Ladies Open Golf Championships. Results: Division 1 Gross winner – C Young of Rockhampton with 76 gross, Division 2 gross winner - G Antcliff with 85 gross ocb from W Daly (CCC). Division 1 nett winner - L Broom 53 nett, Division 2 nett winner - B Galton (Ypn) 58 nett, ocb from W Daly (CCC), N Walker (EP), H Coombs (Ypn).
