Playmaker couldn't save Capras from heavy loss

AARON Watson's second match for the Central Queensland Capras did not pan out as well as his first, his side demolished 48-12 by the Souths Logan Magpies at Miriam Vale's Gary Larson Oval on Saturday.

Watson wasn't able to make his name a force on the scoreboard but he was one of the better players for the Capras in what he described as a dismal effort by his team.

"We did everything wrong really," he said.

"You can't defend the whole game and expect to win."

The first 15 minutes from the Capras were solid, going down 6-0 early and then fighting back to 6-6.

But by the time Watson came on, the score was 18-6 and the Magpies had all the momentum.

The dummy half tried to halt the flow of ball to his opposition with a number of good, darting runs out of the ruck and taking the bigger players head on in tackles, the Capras as a whole dropped too much ball and missed too many tackles in the middle to be competitive.

"We made a heap of errors last week too," Watson said.

"They wanted it more really, that is the only thing to say about it."

Fellow Gladstone players Peter Gallen, Fabian Soutar, Ha'ofanga Rabakewa and Gerard Tema were also selected and played for the Capras.

But Watson was targeted more than his mates because of the size difference between his small frame and the towering forwards.

It is something he had prepared for and handled well.

"They came at me a fair bit as is to be expected; they are strong boys," he said.
