Water project works cause traffic delays

DIXON Dr motorists will face delays until mid-September as the Gladstone Regional Council continues with $1 million of water infrastructure works.

The Gladstone project was delayed by recent wet weather.

The council is duplicating the main water supply into Sun Valley.

The water infrastructure is being extended in Dixon Dr from Dalrymple Dr to Mercury St.

Gladstone Regional Council engineering services portfolio spokesman Rick Hansen said the works were necessary to lessen pressures on the existing water network, and prepare for future population growth in the area.

"Traffic management has been in place daily on approaches to the Dixon Dr and Dalrymple Dr roundabout and motorists are thanked for their understanding and patience, particularly during peak travel times," Cr Hansen said.
