A coffee with... fish market owner Simon Whittingham
THIS week we have a coffee with Gladstone Fish Market owner Simon Whittingham.
Name: Simon Whittingham.
Occupation: Gladstone Fish Market owner.
Years lived in Gladstone: 30.
What do you love about where you live? I don't actually live in Gladstone anymore. My family and four children live in Hervey Bay.
I work here Monday to Friday every week and go back home on weekends.
How do you take your favourite drink? Water is better chilled.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon you can find me ... attending soccer with three of my children.
When I was young, my dream was to ... be a skipper and drive boats. I enjoy being on the water, it's a magical place. I grew up around boats.
My most memorable pet was ... a dog called Aggi. She was a bitzer, kind of an Australian terror x staffy.
I had her for 14 years, she was my "little friend".
When I go out in Gladstone you will find me ... in the gold class cinema kicking back enjoying the latest movies.
My secret talent ... I don't have a secret talent, what you see is what you get.
I have a guitar but there isn't enough time in the day to have lessons. When I retire I might pick it back up.
When I feel like splurging, I ... take my children out to "Yo-get-it" in Hervey Bay, which is like Yogurtland in Gladstone.
My favourite holiday destination is ... Heron Island. It's a very special place ...no phones, no TV, no internet.
Adam Sandler ... would play me in a movie about my life.
To keep fit and healthy I ... eat more seafood. It's bloody good for your health.
The best piece of wisdom I've been told is ... if you've got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.
