WATCH: SOCCER IS IN A GREAT STATE
SOCCER: Four emerging Central Queensland Mariners players have been selected in two Queensland Country sides to play later this year.
Tyler Wise and Fateh Brar are in the Queensland under-14 team while Ky Geddy and Shalom Mangweza are in the state U13 side.
The two Queensland teams will compete in the FFA National Titles from September 24-28.
Fateh, who plays as a striker, right-wing and midfielder, said to play at a higher level will only fast-track his progress.
"It means a big thing for me and the team and it will be good for me. This is the first time for me," he said.
Shalom Mangweza, who is a centre-back, said it will be a thrill to wear Queensland colours.
"I couldn't have done it without my coach and all my supporters," he said.
Centre-back Ky and and left-winger Tyler both agreed the hard work has paid off.
"Making this team means a lot to me and a lot of hard work goes into the training and couldn't have done it without my coaches and staff," Tyler said.
Central Queensland regional development officer Tom McDonald said more local kids were selected this year.
"Last year we had two and it's been a great achievement for the area," he said. "It reflects well on the program and reflects well on Grant Costello the coach who has done some great work with them."
