THE Gladstone region experienced great weather on Thursday, with locals enjoying the hot summer weather by the Boyne River at Benaraby.

Families swam, did some fishing by the bank and lazed by the water.

The weekend forecast is for a scorcher.

On Saturday it's predicted to be mostly sunny with a high of 32 degrees.

There is a 20-30% chance of isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, which are more likely to affect inland areas.

Michelle Berry, senior forecaster at the  Bureau of Meteorology said: "There's a better possibility of some storm activity inland. Places like Biloela are more likely to experience storms over the next few days."
