Wanda’s on track for a memorable Cup day
WANDA Ballinger is normally a t-shirt and shorts kind of a girl but she knows she will have to do something different for the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday
Because this mother of three is heading to Flemington for the race.
She isn't the most experienced punter but history has shown she can win a bet.
"I won $650 on Diamond Drill a couple of weeks ago but that's it," she laughed.
"I missed the race and I put my ticket in and the lady started pulling out $50 notes.
"I pick horses by the sound of their name."
Mrs Ballinger will style it up with a handmade fascinator and bright-red frock.
"It's got to be a big fascinator," she said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I don't get dressed up very often."
She is looking forward to seeing some of the ravishing outfits at the track.
It would give her a break from reality, she said.
"I have so much to do before I go, like organising the kids. I should have done some housework before I go too," she laughed.
How do you pick a winner?
Ken McKewin: Divide by eight then multiple by five.
Lyn Keetch: I was born on a Melbourne Cup day. I just pick a name of a horse that stands out to me. My birthday falls on Melbourne Cup day this year so I'm hoping for a win.
Kearney Liam: Form.
