Waerea-Hargreaves makes initial Kiwis squad

SYDNEY Rooster Jared Waerea-Hargreaves may be set for a return to the New Zealand team after three years in the international wilderness.

The 27-year-old prop, who has not played a Test since the Kiwis' 34-2 thrashing by Australia in the 2013 World Cup final, has been named in coach Stephen Kearney's Four Nations train-on squad.

He was named among 23 players selected by Kearney from clubs who did not qualify for the NRL finals series.

An extra 13 players will be named from teams still in the premiership hunt, before Kearney cuts his squad to 24 after the NRL grand final ahead of the Four Nations in England in October.
