Couple injected humour into wedding with custom vows
"GOD damn you're beautiful" was not only the thoughts of the groom, but also the song playing for the first dance between Travis Barnett and Racquel Beetham.
The pair were joined by 70 friends and family on the afternoon of October 26 at Canoe Point, Tannum Sands, to celebrate their wedding day.
The high school sweethearts met as students at Toolooa State, with a marriage proposal following six years later at Mr Barnett's 21st birthday party.
"My highlight was the entire event," said new Mrs Barnett.
"Finally making my way down the aisle to Travis was wonderful, surrounded by family and friends."
Officiated by celebrant and long-time friend Lee Timbs, the couple wished to make the day their own by exchanging their own, original vows to one another.
The bride and groom injected humour into the day with promises to remember to turn the stove off, and to remain patient no matter how many times they each need reminding.
"Everyone was laughing with us, it was one of my favourite parts of the day," said Mrs Barnett.
"Followed by the amazing food that was served at the reception," she laughed.
Dancing and drinks flowed until the early hours of the next morning at the Harvey Road Tavern.
The couple spent two weeks honeymooning in Vanuatu, where they island hopped and visited volcanoes.
The Gladstone residents and their two dogs are settling comfortably into married life.
