Volleyball is in a winning state as QLD dominates

VOLLEYBALL: Three Gladstone State High School girls returned home with premiership medallions from the School Sport Australia Championships in volleyball.

Georgia Donovan, Kiarra Hansen and Chelsea Fanning represented the Sunshine State in Sydney and played key roles in getting the job done against Victoria in the final.

Georgie and Chelsea played as pass hitters while Kiarra was in the role of setter.

The Queensland side won in four sets 25-14, 25-18, 21-25 and sealed the final in the fourth set 25-22.

Queensland won nine of the 10 pool games with the exception being a loss against South Australia which was a close five-set match.

The Croweaters won the thriller 25-23, 21-25, 25-11, 20-25, 13-15, but it spurred Queensland on to win its remaining three matches including the final all in four sets.

Queensland were flawless in five of the first seven games where it did not drop a set.
