VIDEO: Thirsty koala cools down while warming hearts

A SHORT video of a thirsty koala being cooled down by a friendly South Australian woman has struck a nerve, at a time when the state is being ravaged by fire.

According to Kerry Goldsworthy, who posted the clip on her Facebook, she came home to find "a very hot and thirsty koala right in our front yard.

"I'm going to remember this forever," she wrote.

"He drank for 15 minutes straight before looking much better and climbing a tree."

She told friends the koala was lying on hot concrete trying to escape into the shade of her wheelie bins.

The video has now been watched more than 395,000 times by midday monday, and shared by more than 14,000 people.

The exhausted animal, which is heard being named as "Mr Koala", will remind many of the iconic image of a furry friend being fed water from a bottle during the Black Saturday bushfires.
