Pucovski downed by Abbott bouncer

WILL Pucovski has been forced from the field at Junction Oval after being struck by a Sean Abbott bouncer during Victoria's Sheffield Shielf match against NSW.

After collapsing, Pucovski was able to walk from the ground with assistance about a minute after being hit.

According to reports, Abbott was visibly shaken by the incident and took several minutes to resume bowling.

Pucovski, regarded as one of Australia's most promising young batsmen, and at just 20 years old has a history of concussion.

He made his first-class debut last summer but his match ended early when he was struck in the head.

He missed three months of cricket as a result of that blow.

It was a highly emotional moment for Abbott, who bowled the ball which struck Phillip Hughes in the head and tragically led to the 25-year-old's death.

Abbott was supported by both his teammates, the Victorian players and the umpires.
