Rockhampton woman sheds old lifestyle, loses 46kg

VICKI Hartley knew she had to do something about her weight when she couldn't muster enough breath for an RBT.

"I had to take a roadside breath test in front of my son, who was learning to drive," she said.

"I took me three goes. That was scary."

The Rockhampton woman yesterday reflected on her recent Weight Watcher's journey, which has taken her from 110kg to an incredible 64kg.

Vicki is an entrant in the national 2014 Healthy Life Awards.

"I've always had a weight issue, ever since I was a little girl," she said.

"I continually yo-yo'ed. But this time, I was committed."

Vicki, who has tried everything from strict diets to hypnosis, said she really believed in the Weight Watcher's program because it gave you the tools, support and guidance to take control of your life.

"You need to be held accountable," she said.

"It's important you're focused and in the right mindset too."

Vicki said she didn't realise just how overweight she was until the kilos started dropping off.

"I threw all my big clothes out," she said.

Although she never had any serious health problems, Vicki said she didn't want to take any chances.

Now, she is an inspiration to those around her.

"I want people to know it's achievable," she said.

"If I can do it anyone can. Never ever give up."

Finalists for the awards will be announced on November 29.
