'Very upset': Tannum cafe to close doors for the last time

AFTER nine years serving Tannum Sands locals and visitors with cakes, big breakfasts and strong coffee, The Coffee Club at Tannum Central will shut its doors for the last time on Sunday.

It's understood The Coffee Club and Tannum Central management were unable to reach an agreement on the terms of a new lease however this is not confirmed.

The franchisee of The Coffee Club did not wish to comment but did say the cafe had been running for nine years.

Clare Ubrihien is one local who will miss the cafe once it closes.

She comes to The Coffee Club three or four times a week and was extremely upset when she found out her favourite cafe was closing down.

Ms Ubrihien was with her friend Heather Hurtz having a meal and drinks.

The pair regularly meet up together at The Coffee Club to catch up.

They had just left the doctors and stopped off for a coffee.

"For the owners sake I'm very upset," Ms Ubrihien said.

"It's extremely disappointing because they've worked their guts out.

"I hate to see anything close."

Ms Ubrihien thought Tannum Central management would lease the shop out within a month, because of its location, but it's unlikely she will shop there having already decided to move onto Blend Cafe up the road.

"They've employed a lot of people over the years," she said.

"It's a brilliant business here and it's a great place to meet with friends.

"It's just upsetting," she said
